ECDI training includes a three-day Financial Literacy Course and a five-week Microenterprise Training Course. Starting Feb. 9, 2008, training courses will be held on the second and third weekend of each month.
The Financial Literacy Course is ten hours and provides customers with:
· A comprehensive view of personal savings · Credit building techniques · Budgeting · Possible pitfalls to avoid, such as predatory lenders
When customers graduate from Financial Literacy, they can enroll in the Microenterprise Training. This training provides customers with skills to begin and run a successful business. Customers learn many skills, such as:
· Marketing · Pricing · Bookkeeping · Cash-flow techniques · Business plan
This comprehensive course tests customers’ ability to go into business, through the development of a business plan that course instructors evaluate. ECDI Program Advisors assist customers to begin and expand businesses that have an excellent chance of survival in the competitive world of business. We do not position customers for failure, which means that satisfactory completion of all training is necessary in order to qualify for our financial services. Therefore, some customers are advised to re-take the Microenterprise Training, attend specific skill-enhancing seminars, or receive one-on-one technical assistance from appropriate ECDI staff.
