Minor Home Repair
ECDI provides home maintenance assistance to senior-citizen and disabled homeowners, who would not otherwise be able to afford services.
Since 2005, ECDI has successfully operated the Minor Home Repair Program funded by the City of Columbus, Franklin County and the Ohio Department of Development. This program covers work necessary to correct substandard, unsanitary or deteriorated conditions which have been identified by the Program Coordinator as creating an imminent danger to health and safety. These types of repairs may include: roof repair or replacements, mechanical system (electrical, heating and plumbing) repairs or upgrades. The program also provides accessibility for disabled individuals including wheelchair ramps, doorway expansions and installation of safety bars in bathrooms. ECDI will pay for the cost of repairs up to $6,000 based on qualifications and availability of funding.

ECDI currently offers minor home repair funded by the following sources.
City of Columbus CHORES Program:
- Be at least 60-years old or disabled.
- Own your home.
- Be able to pay existing property taxes (or be on a verifiable payment plan with The Franklin County Auditor’s office).
- Have an annual gross income at 80% or below the Area Median Income (AMI) (see table below).
- Be a resident of Columbus.
- Be at least 60-years old or disabled.

- Live in Franklin County outside the City of Columbus.
Ohio Department of Development Emergency Home Repair Program:
- Be at least 60-years old or at least 55-years old and disabled.
- Own your home.
